Composite Engineering & Design Support

Our composite engineering capability is focused on translating project requirements into technically sound and manufacturable composite solutions. Engineering support begins with application assessment and material selection, followed by evaluation of structural and load requirements to ensure suitability for the intended service environment. Resin systems are selected based on chemical exposure, operating temperatures, and lifecycle expectations, while design coordination addresses custom geometries, interface detailing, and connection requirements. Filament Winding

Filament winding is used for the manufacture of pipes, fittings, tanks, vessels, manhole liners, and other cylindrical structures. This process allows precise control over fibre orientation and laminate build-up, resulting in uniform wall thickness, high structural integrity, and excellent pressure resistance. The controlled nature of filament winding ensures consistent mechanical performance and long-term reliability in demanding applications.

Pultrusion

Pultrusion is utilised for the production of structural profiles including platforms, ladders, handrails, gratings, and load-bearing elements. This continuous manufacturing process delivers consistent dimensional accuracy, high fibre volume content, and superior structural strength. Pultruded components offer repeatable quality and performance, making them ideal for structural and safety-critical applications.

Hand Lay-Up & Custom Fabrication

Hand lay-up and custom fabrication methods are employed for complex geometries, benching systems, chambers, custom tanks, and enclosures. This approach provides the flexibility required to integrate complex features, accommodate site-specific constraints, and deliver bespoke solutions. Despite the flexibility of this method, strict process control is maintained to ensure consistent quality and performance.

Material & Resin System Expertise

Material selection plays a critical role in composite performance and durability. EFG Composites works with a wide range of resin systems, including polyester resins for general industrial and water applications, vinyl ester resins for enhanced chemical and corrosion resistance, and epoxy resins for high-strength or high-temperature environments.
